Background
As an expanding multinational communications corporation, Vodafone is committed to helping tackle global climate change. The Group has set a target to reduce CO2 emissions by 50% by 2020, from the 2006/07 baseline of 1.23 million tonnes.


Services Provided
UPL provides a range of energy management services for Vodafone, including:

  • New connections
  • Smart metering installations
  • Bill investigation and dispute resolution

Having successfully carried out a trial installation of AMR meters, UPL is now installing smart meters at a further 7,000 of Vodafone’s UK sites.


Savings
UPL’s specialist bill investigation service alone has generated cash recoveries of more than £800,000 for Vodafone. As a direct result, ongoing billed consumption has been reduced by £500,000 per year, with corresponding savings of 3,356 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
