Code for Sustainable Homes

The Code for Sustainable Homes was introduced in 2008 to drive a change in sustainable home building practice. It is a national standard for key elements of design and construction which affect the sustainability of a new home. The Code is used by home designers and builders as a guide to development, and by homebuyers to assist in their choice of property.

The Code uses a one to six star rating system to measure the overall environmental and sustainability performance of a new home against several design categories, including:

Energy and carbon dioxide emissions
Surface water run-off
Building materials
Waste management
Ecology

We can help ensure that your development complies with each aspect of the Code. From initial planning, our qualified team of assessors will research and advise on the levels of sustainability required from the build, through to the awarding of the final certificates to enable the property to be sold.

We will provide both a BRE-approved pre-assessment report and ensure you gain final assessment including, when required, site visits and recommendation reports on renewable building practices.

Leaving your first assessment late into a build will cost you time and money. To ensure that your project delivers well within budget and on time contact our specialist sustainable development team by emailing tim.mortlock@up-ltd.co.uk
