OFGEM issues DPCR-5 consultation
20 Aug 2009Energy industry regulator OFGEM has issued a consultation on its fifth Distribution Price Control Review (DPCR-5). The consultation is seeking opinions on the prices which Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) will be allowed to charge over the next five years. The document reveals OFGEM’s plans to encourage investment in the electricity network infrastructure, to improve both the security and quality of supply, and develop sustainable technology. It also sets out new service level standards which DNOs must meet, in order to ‘improve the level of service for customers who source connections from DNOs’. For the first time, DNOs will also be able to earn profit on competitive connections activities, and OFGEM will establish competition tests to determine the extent of competition in each distribution service area.
