Utility Partnership Limited (UPL), the UK’s leading end-to-end utility infrastructure and energy management solutions provider, recently announced (5th July 2010) the relocation of its smart metering and data services division to a modernised, spacious home in Cardiff City Centre.
The move to the 8,000 sq ft building forms an important part of UPL’s strategy to develop a robust infrastructure reflective of its ambitious growth plans and will give the division some much needed warehouse space to cope with the intensive installation programme planned for 2010.
The metering and data division of UPL has experienced rapid growth over the last 5 years which has seen them work with a number of large blue-chip companies such as Vodafone and Peacocks Group. The business has made a significant impact in the industry by giving organisations control back over their energy usage, as well as identifying substantial savings and developing future energy management strategies.
Following its accreditation as a Meter Operator (MOP) in 2009, UPL is fast developing a reputation as a major employer in the South Wales area, taking on additional headcount to cope with the rising demand for smart meters. The move came after the business decided it was time to take a fresh look at its location and workspace requirements and the desire to provide an excellent environment for both its employees and visiting clients.
Chris Mawer, who heads up metering and data said; "First impressions are very important to us. We have clients from all over the UK coming to our offices and really wanted somewhere that could provide us with the much needed warehouse space as well as providing a professional image for our business.
"The move represents the next step in our strategy for growth. We will not only benefit from improved facilities but will be in an excellent position to progress our smart meter roll out programme. We currently install around 1000 meters per month and we are hopeful to treble this figure in the next 2-3 years."
Mawer continued; "Our new location provides us with the best possible combination of quality office and warehouse space, value for money and customer access"
UPL’s International expansion into the Italian energy market in February this year, also demonstrates the company’s continued success. As Managing Director Rhys Wynne explains;
"With the EU introducing a number of measures designed to promote competition in the European energy markets, the timing was right for us to develop our business on the continent. The wide range of specialist services UPL provide is in growing demand in Italy. We have set up offices in Milan; a sound base from where we can continue to expand our operations further across southern Europe."
