  Following significant growth, we have expanded our range of services into Italy. The move follows a year of success: In addition to gaining industry accreditation to become a meter operator – which allows us to supply, install, maintain and operate electricity meters – we have also won a number of major contracts in the UK.

  
  As UPL chief executive Gary Mawer explains, ‘Having spent the last 12 months researching this development, we have recently begun our expansion into Italy. With the EU introducing a number of measures designed to promote competition in the European energy markets, the timing is right for us to develop our business on the continent. The wide range of specialist services which UPL provides is in growing demand in Italy, so we’ve set up offices in Milan from where we’re hoping to expand our operations across southern Europe.’
