UPL have been commended in this weeks Utility Week feature - Friends in High Places.
The feature was a collaboration between Utility Week and OC&C Strategy Consultants who researched the market and produced an index that ranks the sector's support services suppliers (with some exceptions), taking into account both their current performance and the strength of their proposition going forward.
The results saw UPL positioned as a Market Leader for the Construction and Engineering category. Here’s what the feature said about us:
Consultancies
Most firms in this market score well on proposition, but only some do as well on performance. The financial prowess of more general consultancies has been dented by market volatility and limited project-in-the-pipeline visibility, due to the ad-hoc nature of their work. Others are not effectively translating the full range of their capabilities into services appealing to utilities specifically.
Some consultancies have developed long-term service relationships with utilities, though. Those with significant focus in the sector should have an eye to the potential dangers of lower project and capital investment by utilities in the future.
Companies we admire include Halcrow and UPL, both of which provide a broad range of long-term and continuing advisory services to a wide variety of utility players as well as end-users, creating business stability.
